5 Day Devotional: Beauty

Scripture: Psalm 139:14, 1 Peter 3:3-4.

Devotional:
Beauty is often seen as something external—how we look, what we wear, how we carry ourselves. But God’s definition of beauty runs far deeper. In Psalm 139, we learn that we are 'fearfully and wonderfully made,' meaning we were intentionally created by a loving God who sees our value. True beauty comes from being in relationship with Him. It is not about how others perceive us, but about how God sees us. 1 Peter 3:3-4 reminds us that the hidden beauty of our heart, the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, is precious in His sight. This type of beauty doesn’t fade with time—it grows stronger, and it is eternal.

True beauty is revealed through how we live, not just what we wear. Our conduct should be a reflection of God’s love and grace. 1 Peter 3:2 shows us that even without words, our behavior can influence others to honor God. Matthew 5:16 calls us to let our light shine before others, so that they may see our good works and glorify God. A humble heart and pure conduct not only reflect inner beauty, but they point others to the Savior. When we live humbly and faithfully, we are putting God’s glory on display, making our beauty truly shine.

A gentle and quiet spirit is one of the most beautiful aspects of a woman’s character. It doesn’t mean being passive or weak; rather, it’s about a peaceful confidence in who God is and trusting Him completely. 1 Peter 3:4 tells us that this spirit is precious in God’s sight. When we trust God, we are able to remain calm and composed in the face of challenges. Philippians 4:7 speaks of a peace that surpasses all understanding. This peace is a result of our submission to God, allowing His beauty to flow from within and radiate outward, even in the hardest moments.
