Welcome, ladies, to this week’s study on Confident Health. Health is something that affects all of us—whether it's passed down through family history or shaped by our lifestyle choices. Sometimes, we feel like we’re bound by genetics, like certain diseases or health struggles are inevitable because they’ve been in our families for generations. But the truth is, health is a choice! God created us with the ability to steward our bodies, and we have the power to choose how we take care of ourselves. This week, we’re going to explore how health and fitness aren’t just about looks but about making intentional, godly choices to honor the temple He’s given us.
Taking Control of Our Health
It’s easy to blame our family history or busy schedules for the health struggles we face, but the truth is, our health is also deeply influenced by our habits. As Proverbs 31:14-15 reminds us, 'She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar. She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household.' A noble woman takes the time to prepare nourishing food for herself and her family. It’s not about perfection; it’s about making healthier choices consistently and being intentional about what goes into our bodies.
The Power of Healthy Choices
Our bodies need four essential components to thrive: protein, healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, and water. These nutrients are the building blocks that keep our bodies functioning at their best. Too often, we rely on quick, unhealthy options because they’re convenient, but true health comes from consistently choosing foods that fuel us properly. Junk food may taste good in the moment, but it leaves us feeling drained, sluggish, and uninspired. Let’s learn to fuel our bodies with the nutrition they need to be strong and vibrant.
Stewardship and Discipline in Health
Health and fitness aren’t just about looking good on the outside. They’re about building strength to do the work God has called us to. In Proverbs 31:17, it says, 'She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms.' This isn't just about physical strength for appearances; it’s about preparing ourselves physically and mentally to fulfill God's purpose for our lives. Healthy living requires discipline and preparation. When we put the work in now—through healthy eating and exercise—it enables us to live with more energy, confidence, and strength to carry out the calling God has on our lives.
Challenge and Invitation
As we dive into this study, I encourage you to reflect on your own health journey. Are there areas where you’ve allowed convenience and poor choices to dictate your health? God has given you the strength to make changes, and this week is the perfect opportunity to start fresh. Let’s make the decision to honor our bodies with intentional, godly choices that will lead to confidence, vitality, and a deeper connection with the purpose He has for our lives.
