Helpmate: Audio Intro Lesson
Welcome, ladies! I’m so excited to continue our study of the virtues of a noble woman with one of the most beautiful and foundational roles God has given us—being a helpmate. When God created Eve, He said, 'It is not good for man to be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him' (Genesis 2:18). This wasn’t an afterthought or a downgrade. It was an intentional design by God to bring balance, strength, and partnership into creation. As women, we were created to complement, support, and protect in ways that no other part of creation could.
Helpmate by Design
Eve wasn’t created out of the dust like Adam, but out of his rib—a part of him, close to his heart, and symbolic of the equality, value, and unity between men and women. This design shows how deeply God values partnership and connection. As helpmates, we aren’t meant to dominate or be dominated; we’re meant to walk in strength alongside those God has placed in our lives. Whether it’s in our families, communities, or the body of Christ, our role as helpers reflects God’s wisdom, creativity, and purpose.
Support and Protection: The Rib’s Role
Here’s something profound: the rib provides both support and protection. It’s a structure that helps carry weight and shields vital organs, and we are called to do the same. Galatians 6:2 says, 'Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.' As helpmates, we step in to uplift, intercede, and stand guard over what God has entrusted to us. Whether through prayer, encouragement, or action, we provide the support and protection needed to strengthen those around us.
The Watchman’s Perspective
Proverbs 31:27 tells us, 'She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.' This is a call to be vigilant and intentional, like a watchman in a tower, guarding the seeds God has planted in our lives. By staying in constant communication with God, we gain the strength, insight, and discernment needed to protect and steward the gifts, relationships, and responsibilities He has given us.
Challenge and Invitation
This week, let’s embrace the privilege of being a helper. Where has God called you to provide support or protection? Is it through prayer, encouragement, or stepping into a difficult situation with wisdom? Take some time to reflect and ask God for strength and clarity. Ladies, being a helpmate isn’t a burden—it’s a beautiful and vital role in God’s design. Let’s dive deeper into this virtue and see how God uses it to reveal His glory through us!"
