Hello, ladies, and welcome to our journey into the virtues of a noble woman! I am so excited to begin with the foundation of it all—Wisdom. Now, when we talk about wisdom, we aren’t just talking about knowing a lot of things. Wisdom is something much deeper. Proverbs 31:26 tells us, 'She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.' This kind of wisdom transforms not only how we think but also how we live, speak, and reflect God’s presence in our lives. Today, we’re going to discover how wisdom begins and why it’s one of the most important virtues we can embrace as women of God.
Wisdom Comes from God Alone
Wisdom isn’t something we can earn or achieve on our own. It isn’t gained by reading books, collecting degrees, or even through life experience—though those things have value. True wisdom is a gift from God. Proverbs 1:7 says, 'The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.' This fear isn’t about being afraid of God; it’s about having a reverence and awe for Him. When we humble ourselves before Him, trusting His Word and surrendering to His ways, He pours wisdom into our hearts. This is the type of wisdom that directs our paths, helps us make decisions, and shapes our character.
Wisdom vs. Knowledge
Now, let’s take a moment to separate wisdom from knowledge, because the two often get confused. Knowledge is about gathering information—it’s knowing facts and details. But wisdom is about understanding what to do with that knowledge. It’s the difference between knowing the Ten Commandments and actually living by them. Wisdom teaches us how to walk in obedience, apply God’s Word to our lives, and avoid pitfalls along the way. James 1:5 reminds us that if we lack wisdom, all we have to do is ask God, and He will give it to us generously. Isn’t that a beautiful promise?
The Benefits of Wisdom
Throughout Scripture, we see the incredible benefits of wisdom. Proverbs 3:13-18 says wisdom is more precious than rubies and brings peace, long life, and favor with God and man. Wisdom builds our lives just like a strong foundation holds up a house. Proverbs 14:1 tells us, 'The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.' When wisdom is our foundation, everything we build—our relationships, our decisions, our faith—has the strength to endure life’s storms. But without wisdom, we risk making choices that leave us unstable and unfulfilled.
The Process of Building Wisdom
Living a wisdom-filled life is a process. It requires us to rely on God daily, trust His guidance, and apply His truth to every area of our lives. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.' This is a lifelong journey, and it’s not always easy. But as we surrender to God, He builds us into women of strength, purpose, and grace. And here’s the best part—God wants to give us wisdom. He’s ready and willing to pour it out on anyone who asks. So, let’s commit to seeking Him together this week.
Challenge & Invitation
As we begin this week of study, I want to challenge you to think about where you need God’s wisdom most. Is there an area of your life where you’ve been relying on your own understanding? Maybe it’s in your decisions, your relationships, or even your daily routines. Take time to ask God for wisdom and trust that He will give it to you. I can’t wait to dive deeper into this virtue with you and see how God moves through His Word and our time together. Let’s begin this journey into wisdom with open hearts and expectant spirits!
